Critical Incident

BBC One (10 x 45 mins)

  • Info

Every year in the UK, thousands of police officers, paramedics and firefighters are attacked and injured in the line of duty. Wounded and traumatised, frontline fighters are stopped from doing what they do best: protecting the public. Critical Incident looks at the dedication of those determined to do their duty and get back on the beat – and shows how the violent criminals responsible for the attacks are brought to justice.

Using dramatic footage captured by body-cams, vehicle dash-cams, CCTV and even mobile phones, the series will show the terrifying moments that changed the lives of these public service champions and how the police track down and lock up the criminal villains. So as the 999ers bravely report back for duty, their attackers are caught and sentenced.

With exclusive access to the specialised treatment centres that care for injured emergency service workers, we follow their road to recovery, including the emotional return to duty. And it is a celebration of this desire to serve the public again that is at the heart of the series.
